How to Import Interactive Brokers Flex Query Into a Tracker

Step-by-step guide to exporting your Interactive Brokers activity via a Flex Query and importing the CSV into HCC StockWatcher for portfolio tracking.

Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is popular among active traders and international investors for its broad market access and low commissions. Exporting your transaction history uses IBKR's Flex Query system, which is more powerful (and slightly more complex) than a simple CSV download.

Setting Up a Flex Query

1

Log into your Interactive Brokers account and navigate to Performance & Reports > Flex Queries. Click the Create button under Activity Flex Query.

2

Configure the query. Select Trades as the section. Include these columns: Symbol, DateTime, Buy/Sell, Quantity, Price, Commission, Currency, and Asset Category. Set the output format to CSV.

Running and Downloading the Export

3

Save the Flex Query, then run it for your desired date range. IBKR will generate the report, which you can download as a CSV file.

4

In HCC StockWatcher, go to Transactions > Import, select the downloaded CSV, and the Interactive Brokers parser will be auto-detected.

Tips for IBKR Users

  • Flex Queries can be saved and reused — create one template for all future exports.
  • For multi-currency accounts, ensure the Currency column is included so trades are properly attributed.
  • IBKR uses its own ticker format for some securities — the parser handles common conversions automatically.
  • If you trade options, those transactions may need to be handled separately as the parser focuses on equity trades.
