How to Export Fidelity Transactions to CSV

How to download your Fidelity account history as a CSV and import it into HCC StockWatcher to track holdings, cost basis, and estimated capital gains.

Fidelity lets you download account history as a CSV file that HCC StockWatcher can import to reconstruct your holdings and estimate cost basis and returns. Here is how to export the file and bring it in cleanly.

Downloading Your Fidelity History

1

Log in to Fidelity and go to your account's Activity & Orders (or History) view.

2

Choose the date range you want and use the download option to save the activity as a CSV / spreadsheet file. For tax preparation, exporting a full calendar year at a time is often easiest.

3

On the Transactions page, select Import and choose your Fidelity CSV. The parser maps rows to buys, sells, dividends, and other events automatically.

4

Review the preview, confirm, and your estimated holdings, cost basis, and profit/loss update immediately.

US Tax Reporting Notes

For US investors, realized gains and losses are generally reported on Form 8949 and summarized on Schedule D. HCC StockWatcher can produce an estimated Form 8949-style summary from your imported transactions, but your broker's official 1099-B is the authoritative record — reconcile the two, especially where wash-sale adjustments apply.

Disclaimer: HCC StockWatcher is an informational tool. Cost basis and gain/loss figures are estimates and may differ from your broker's 1099-B (which reflects wash sales and other adjustments). Export steps at Fidelity may change. Consult a qualified tax professional for your filing.
