Parser Details
The National Bank Direct Brokerage parser reads buy, sell, dividend, deposit, and withdrawal rows from the Type column, in French or in English. The market and the currency come from the ticker's exchange suffix when it has one, from a Currency column when your export includes one, and otherwise fall back to Canadian dollars on the Canadian market — the import preview flags every row that fell back.

What transfers from your National Bank Direct Brokerage CSV
Exactly what the National Bank Direct Brokerage parser reads out of the file, and what you will still need to enter yourself afterwards.
Read from the file
- Buy and sell rows: Date, Symbol, Quantity, and Price.
- French and English transaction types alike — achat as well as buy, vente as well as sell.
- The Commission column, applied as the fee on each trade.
- Dividend (dividende), deposit (dépôt), and withdrawal (retrait) rows from the Type column.
- A Currency column when your export includes one, and an exchange suffix such as ENB.TO on the ticker — either one sets the Canadian or the US market.
Entered by hand afterwards
- Currency when the export states none and the ticker carries no exchange suffix. Those rows fall back to Canadian dollars on the Canadian market, and the import preview flags them as assumed — correct any US-dollar trades before confirming.
- Cost basis for positions transferred in from another institution.
- Option contracts, and bond and GIC terms such as face value, coupon rate, and maturity date.
- Corporate actions such as splits, mergers, spinoffs, and return of capital are skipped.
Estimated capital gains, adjusted cost base, and the year-end United States and Canadian reference reports are all derived from these transactions, so anything missing here is missing from those figures too. See how estimated tax reporting works
